Dr. McGuire graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Connecticut in Storrs. He received his medical degree from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.

After medical school, he did his orthopedic surgery residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. While at Henry Ford, he participated in the care of professional athletes from the Detroit Lions, Red Wings, and Tigers. After finishing residency, he completed his sports medicine fellowship at Louisiana State University and was an Assistant Team Physician for McNeese State University. Prior to coming to Bangor, Dr. McGuire was a Team Physician at Penn State University in State College, Pennsylvania.

Dr. McGuire currently serves as a Team Physician for the University of Maine, Husson University, Maine Maritime Academy, Thomas College and Bangor High School.    He specializes in Sports Medicine which includes non-operative, arthroscopic and open surgical treatment of injuries to the Shoulder, Knee, Elbow and Ankle.   He also has an interest in fracture care.
